Seth Thomas Regulator No. 3

Catalog Description:

Seth Thomas "Regulator No. 3" ca 1886. The backboard, movement, dial, and hands, are the good. The 8 day, one weight movement is a strong runner. The weight, although correct, is not a cream puff. The bob may be correct, not sure. The stick is not original. Label and beat scale are in the lower part of the case. The ugly is the charred left side that was exposed to excessive heat. A good shop man will probably make a new side board and take the octagon bezel apart and replace a couple of sections on the left side. Most of us would sand the devil out of the charred pieces, get it down to good wood, and leave it together. We do feel the good parts did not start life with the bad and ugly. Doesn't that make you wonder what happened to the rest of the case "good" came with. Surely it was better than this case. As you can see there are no finials. The dial is an old repaint. Ly-Seth Thomas, page 113.
