Catalog Description:
C.1880, Seth Thomas, "Regulator No. 15" longcase clock in walnut and burled veneers in very good original condition. The 14" silvered dial has rubbed to brass over the years, and it would be easier to read if it were silvered. The mercury with the clock only fills around a third to half the thumb print jar, but it seems to keep time at that level. Otherwise this is a great clock, with original finish, weight, pendulum, hangers, hardware and so forth. The movement in the 15 is among the finest that Seth Thomas produced, with fine cut pinions, Graham escapement, robust pillars, and venier beat adjustment. This case has glass sides with counter framing like the finest regulators; it is really an imposing and impressive piece. Height 100 inches ( tallcase, grandfather )
