Catalog Description:
Seth Thomas City Series clock, "New Orleans, V.P.", ca 1879. One of the first City Series clocks they made. The more decorative cases came along in the 1880's. The V.P. means Visible Pendulum. That seems odd, because a great many of their clocks have visible pendulums and they didn't call them V.P. This model, although in a plain 16 inch walnut case, was brightened up with nickel accessories, pendulum, bell, and dial rings. It was also just a little different in that the inside of the case was covered with a felt like material. Full black label inside, and black paint around the top of the base. 8 day movement, strikes the nickel bell on the hours, and runs smartly.Ly-Seth Thomas No. 211.
