Seth Thomas Clock Co. marble front gallery clock, "No.2", ca 1904. Large piece of marble is 27 1/2 inches by 1 inch thick. Marble mounted to a wood box that has 2 large hangers on the back, and a trap door in the base to access the pendulum. Pendulum movement is 15 day, large double spring No.86AE, signed by Seth Thomas. Mounted on a cast iron back plate. Graham dead beat escapement, running. The hands, pendulum, doors, back, all original. Dial numerals have been repainted or touched up. Rope around the outside and the designs painted on the marble, were no doubt added by later owners. Recent owners were told that "SFR" stands for "San Francisco Naval Reserve".
